Reasons To Pest-Proof Your Air Conditioner

To make your home pest-free, you need to take many different steps. Rendering your home pest-free is one of the best things you can do to ensure the safety and health of your family. Home is where you may or may not be spending your entire day, but whenever you do make sure you and your family are experiencing a level of comfort you can’t get anywhere else. You’re likely to spend more time at home with your loved ones especially during the holiday season. Sometimes holidays can be the ideal time to get all the house chores done that you’ve been avoiding for most of the year. And getting your air conditioner professionally serviced is one of such major tasks – and here’s why.

Did you get your cooling unit serviced this year? Undoubtedly you’re spending a lot to cool down your house – but you’ll end up paying much more if there are a lot of pests in your home. As you probably know, pests and insects are responsible for a number of diseases. We all love to be committed to a healthier living and a work environment. You’ll depend more on air conditioners during the summer, but living in a warmer climate can be non-stop. Ask yourself if your unit is functioning correctly. If not, it’s probably time to get some help from a professional.

You may be wondering why your AC unit is costing you more than you had expected. If it has not been serviced for a while, grease and dirt are likely to build up. In simple words, the breeding ground for termites and insects has already been set. Servicing it yourself can be time consuming. To your surprise, pests can be anywhere, it’s just a matter of location. They love to be near your food and water and residing in your air conditioner is like discovering the perfect spot. Probably they’re attracted to the cooking smells floating through the breeze around the coils and compressor while it pulls the warm air off your home. They could also be drawn to any drips or drains from the hose of the compressor. Even the slightest smell of freon is enough to lure them in. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to get rid of these pests.

You’ll require insecticide but make sure to get the very low level sprays. If you get the strongest spray possible, it will permeate your home, as the smell will fill the ducts and spread from room to room every time you use your air conditioner. This will severely affect the indoor air quality and is likely to make you and your family sick. A worthy solution would be to get your air ducts cleaned. It’ll be a great way to prevent pests from causing nuisance.

I want to make sure that I take good care of my air conditioner. It makes sense that I would want to keep it pest free! I’ll be sure to get a professional if I notice that it’s infested with anything.

Indeed, pest loves warmer climate. Most AC-related articles don’t often mention pest, so thanks for citing this subject matter. In my opinion though, it is best to have your AC regularly checked by professionals to ensure safety and efficiency of the unit in the long run.

That’s good to know that your AC unit can build up dirt and grime which will make it a good home for insects. I could totally see why they would like that since it’s dark and cool in there. I hate having bugs in my house, so I’ll have to think about having a pest control service take a look at my air conditioning.

I didn’t know that pests could cause problems for an air conditioning system! It makes sense that I would want to get a pest control professional if there are pests in there. They would be able to figure out the best way to get the pests out, and keep them out.
